Launched for the beginning of the Autumn term, here is our collection of five harvest songs for you to sing and enjoy in school. These songs can be used in assembly, your Harvest Festival, classroom singing sessions or as part of your choir repertoire.

Song of Creation is a harvest song that explores the co-habitation of all living creatures within our world. Written in a 3/4 ballad style, this song is based on a main voice for all the school to sing in unison. Alternatively, there are two other parts so you can challenge your singing group to sing in harmony.

Scarecrows explores the traditional idea of the 'scarecrow' keeping crops safe from feeding birds.

The song is written for a single voice with an optional second part.

Watch the Cornfields celebrates the traditional season of harvest and gives an appreciation of how our food is grown, distributed and made available for us to eat.

The song is written in 3/4 and has a waltz feel. It has a folk style and is based on a main voice for all the school to sing in unison. Alternatively, there are two other parts so you can challenge your singing group to sing in harmony.

Bonkers About Conkers explores the idea of the traditional game of 'conkers'. The game is a contest between two players who each have a conker (horsechestnut) on a string. The song depicts the ideas behind this game: a battle or fight, finding the 'right' conker that will be tough enough to survive, learning the rules of the game, having fun with your friends.

The song is written in two parts with a third descant part as an option for verse 3 and the ending. It uses irregular time patterns that are thrown in to give a feeling of uncertainty - a bit like the game itself - will my conker survive the battle?
